Coronavirus update from Immaculate Conception Church

Dear Immaculate Conception Family,

After consultation with the Diocese of Columbus and Parish Staff, Father Matt Hoover has elected to suspend all non-essential activities beginning on Monday, March 16 until further notice.

Specifically, the Bishops of Ohio have dispensed the Catholic faithful from the obligation of attending Mass for the weekends of March 14-15, March 21-22 and March 28-29. Our Diocese and Parish is taking this action out of an abundance of caution and out of a concern for the health, safety and well-being of our parish community.

Out of charity and concern for our brothers and sisters in Christ, we encourage all faithful, in particular those who are sick, experiencing symptoms of illness or are at risk of illness to refrain from Mass attendance, per direction from the Catholic Conference of Ohio.

As much as possible, we will maintain the parish Mass schedule, including Daily Mass; we are suspending the Monday daily Mass over the next three weeks due to concern for our retired priests. Additionally, we have opted to remove the Holy Water to further protect our parishioners.

The Communications Office of the Diocese of Columbus sponsors weekly televised and radio broadcasts of the Sunday Mass. The Mass is televised on cable systems throughout the Diocese of Columbus. For local information, check your local TV listings. The Radio Mass is broadcast every Sunday at 10:30 a.m. live from St. Joseph Cathedral in Columbus on St. Gabriel Radio: AM 820.

Please take note of the following items:

  • Immaculate Conception Church and Adoration Chapel will remain open. The Parish Office will also be open during normal business hours.
  • All sacraments will still be available including Friday and Saturday confessions.
  • Daily Mass will remain the same, excluding Monday Daily Mass.

Please join us in praying for all who are suffering from illness or disease of any kind, and for an easing of the tension caused by this situation. May Our Lady of Lourdes, Health of the Sick and Mother of Mercy, intercede for us, and may the Holy Spirit continue to guide and protect us all.

This is the only official communication from the Immaculate Conception Church until further notice.
